Blog: Piano with Pepe

Piano with Pepe & Oslo ♬

Ok, so we got a dog 7 years ago. I kept thinking, I've grown to love this dog, but what are my students going to think of him? How was our little, gentle chihuahua, Pepe, going to react to the students in my studio? I never would have guessed that a dog could lighten the atmosphere during lessons. Almost a year ago we got Oslo, who's become a big hit with students. He's energetic, sweet and loves to lavish students with attention. He entertains everyone and basically just puts a big smile on everyone's face. Although my dogs are often more interested in running around in the backyard, they do really add to lessons when they decide to make an appearance (students ask about my dogs ALL the time, lol). Isn't that what piano lessons should be? A fun time to learn a ton without feeling like it's a chore, but instead like it's a breeze? That's my goal. To fill young minds with music, to teach little fingers to play with great skill and emotion, and to motivate and challenge each student to be the absolute best musician they can be. All this while my little dogs cheers them on!
